Plagiarism Policy

The Excellent Midwifery Journal (EMJ) strictly prohibits all forms of plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, data fabrication, and data falsification.

To ensure the originality and integrity of published articles, the Editorial Board will check all submitted manuscripts using plagiarism detection software (such as Turnitin or iThenticate) before the manuscripts are sent for peer review.

Similarity Index Threshold:

  • The maximum allowed similarity index is less than 20%.
  • This similarity check excludes the bibliography/references, properly cited direct quotations, and very short text matches (e.g., fewer than 5 words).
  • If a manuscript shows a similarity index between 21% and 30%, it may be returned to the author for revision and paraphrasing.
  • If the similarity index exceeds 30%, or if there are indications of severe plagiarism, the manuscript will be automatically rejected.

Plagiarism Sanctions: If plagiarism is discovered after a manuscript has been published, the journal will conduct a preliminary investigation. If plagiarism is proven, EMJ will immediately retract the article, publish a retraction notice, and may block the author from submitting manuscripts to this journal in the future.

Note: You may adjust the 20% figure above in accordance with the evaluation threshold agreed upon by the EMJ editorial team.
