Declaration of Generative AI
Excellent Midwifery Journal (EMJ) requires all authors of research articles to retain responsibility and copyright for their work and to transparently disclose any use of AI in accordance with our policy.
When used responsibly, AI offers many benefits, such as enhancing discovery, expanding inclusivity, and safeguarding the credibility of the scientific record. Excellent Midwifery Journal (EMJ) supports the responsible and transparent use of AI that can strengthen the quality of research, uphold editorial independence, and safeguard the integrity of the scientific and academic record.
We place human-centered values at the heart of our approach to responsible AI use, and this is reflected in our AI Principles and editorial policies. We expect our authors, editors, and peer reviewers to adhere to our AI Principles. The focus is on using AI to enhance human capabilities, not replace them, while upholding the highest ethical, scientific, and research and development standards. For our detailed policies and information regarding the use of AI, including images, videos, and generative AI tools.
AI Usage Policy for Authors
AI programs, Large Language Models (LLMs), or other generative tools do not qualify as authors and must not be listed as authors or co-authors on manuscripts, nor may they be cited as authors in the References section. Authors’ use of AI in the preparation of manuscripts (e.g., to improve grammar or readability) must be transparently disclosed in the manuscript, specifying the AI tool used, its version, and which sections utilized such assistance.
Responsibility for the originality, accuracy of the data, and overall integrity of the work remains entirely with the author, not with the AI. Authors must ensure that AI output has been carefully reviewed to avoid errors or bias. Authors are not permitted to upload unpublished manuscripts or research data into public AI applications for confidentiality reasons.Kebijakan
Policy on the Use of AI by the Editorial Team
Excellent Midwifery Journal (EMJ) has established guidelines for the editorial team regarding the use of AI. Disclosure Requirement: If the editorial team uses AI assistance in certain managerial or editorial processes, such use must be disclosed transparently. The final editorial decision to accept or reject a manuscript must still be made by a human (editor) and must not be delegated to a machine or AI. As with authors, responsibility for the editorial process remains with the Editorial Team. Editors also reserve the right to reject a manuscript if they find that the author has improperly used generative AI.
Policy for Reviewers
Excellent Midwifery Journal (EMJ) strictly prohibits peer reviewers from using AI when conducting evaluations or drafting peer review reports. The manuscript review process requires critical interpretation by human experts. Reviewers are strictly prohibited from uploading the author’s manuscript under review to any generative AI application. Uploading unpublished manuscripts to AI platforms constitutes a serious breach of author confidentiality.
